KOSE Junkisei Prime.

with 148 comments

By now, I am sure most of you readers would have known
my greatest open secret to having fresh-looking supple skin.
Yes, the answer is none other than ample hydration.

Our skin needs lots of fluid and with sufficient hydration, you can keep premature aging and dullness at bay.
And because hydrated skin can better regulate the production of sebum in our skin,
caring for your skin with good hydration products can also prevent unwanted pimples and blemishes.

And of course, having good skin is like having a good canvas to paint on.
Applying makeup is going to be a breeze once you can maintain healthily hydrated skin!
I was proud to be invited to review one of Kose’s latest range called Junkisei!
I am really excited about this because I have tried many other products from Kose,
and I am especially impressed by their powdered facial wash and “black” whitening mask!
The new Junkisei range, however, is formulated mainly for ladies who want more hydration in their skin.
After trying out the products from this new range,
I realized that it did help maintain the hydration of my skin!
I have always been in air-conditioned rooms for most times of the day and
that really strips the skin of its natural moisture.
To me, I think the Junkisei range did a good job
because it managed to keep the skin feel supple and “new looking” without making it feel greasy.

Here is an introduction of a few products in the Junkisei range –

The Junkisei Oil Cleansing is a great cleanser which doubles up as a very effective makeup remover.
I am amazed at how it even managed to remove my waterproof mascara!
I am going to save up on all those cotton pads from now on. Haha!
I have always been a little skeptical about using oil based cleansing products
because I have the impression that it will be very greasy and hard to handle.
But after I tried this one out, I realized that it is totally different from what I have imagined.

After I spread and blend the oil with the makeup on my face,
I wet my hands briefly and then start cleaning my face by massaging with my fingers.
When the oil comes into contact with water, it becomes an emulsion!

The emulsion then removes the makeup very efficiently.
After you rinse off the emulsion, your face will feel supple and velvety soft!

A personal tip here – if your face feels tight and “way too squeaky” after you wash your face,
your facial cleanser is probably too drying for your skin.
So do take note of this when you shop for your cleansers!

The Junkisei Cream Wash will then be the next item for you to
thoroughly clean your face to get rid of any makeup or dirt that remains on your face.
I like the “natural” smell of this wash and it works into a lather really easily.
I like that.

Oh and another tip for cleansing, opt for room temperature or lukewarm water when you wash your face.

They work better than warm or cool water! :p

The next product you should use after the wash – the Junkisei Lotion.
This product is not exactly a toner because it contains very low alcohol content.
But similar to how a toner works, you can use a cotton pad to gently spread the lotion over your skin.
This step will help to soften your skin.
This is one of my favourite products from this range because
I can almost really feel the hydration power of this one! Hahaha!
If you’re also a fan of non-alcoholic lotions, you should try this one out.
It is selling in stores at just $20.90! Good deal.

After the lotion, I would recommend using the Milky Lotion which will
further enhance the hydration effects from the lotion.
This one is said to keep skin plump and soft by retaining the moisture in our skin! Similar to the lotion,
you can work this product on your face using a cotton pad.

And of course, all girls need a good night cream.
This Junkisei Night Cream really has the ability to make the skin feel very lustrous and hydrated.
On the first night when I tried this, I applied too much and it got kinda messy.
After reading up more about this product,
I realized that you actually only need the cream in the size of a small pearl! Super thrifty!!
I tried the cream the following night again and it was totally perfect.

The best part is – my skin still feels very, very hydrated the following morning!!

And of course, they also pampered me by giving me some Prime sheet masks! I love these masks!
These masks are like super effective pick-me-ups on days when you feel you need some SOS for dry skin! I’d recommend these masks to all girls who want affordable and effective hydration masks!
It is only priced at $21.90 for 4 sheets, I think it’s rather good value for money.

  4. I came across this series of Kose Junkisei Prime in Guardian last weekend. Wanted to research more about it, cause it’s pretty interesting to see Kose products in our local drugstores. Furthermore, removing make up has been a chore for me, and Junkisei Oil Cleansing seems like what I should try out!

  8. For many years, I only use products that are recommended by / bought from beauty salons. My skin is very sensitive and I don’t really trust products that are sold off the shelves in Guardians or Watsons. Have tried several products and I will get major pimples outbreak after using them. My skin is very dry and very prone to acnes / pimples. I need PROFESSIONAL and SERIOUS help!!!

  12. Dear Peggy

I would really want to try this new Kose Junkisei Prime Range as I’ve been hunting for a good hydrating range suitable for my sensitive and acne-prone skin. I’m thoroughly sick of experimenting different types of products that do not work and even produce adverse effects. I would love to try this range so that I can improve my skin and put a smile on my dry, acne-ridden face.

So which line of skincare range do you prefer? Laneige or Kose?

    June 25, 2010 at 3:26 pm

    • Kelly – Hahahaha are you trying to get me into trouble to ask me such a question on an advertorial post? :p

Well to be really honest, I like both of them. Laneige is good. But Kose is really surprisingly good for me too! I love their facial foam, night cream and masks best. Well, notice the similarity between both brands? They are all made by Asians for Asians! I trust these brands more than the others. :) You should try Kose if you want something good and affordable. :)

  16. I really want this Kose Junkisei Prime Range as I believe having good and hydrated skin is the most chio thing to make me confident now. I’ve been wrking in the airport and it has stripped my skin dry of its natural moisture.
Partly because I didn’t put any extra protection too! I wanna have RADIANT and a better base to put on my makeup! Also, I promise to complete this range and not be such a lazy girl anymore! Pretty please, for the sake of good skin, confidence and a chiobu in the future!

  17. I would really love to win the Kose Junkisei Prime Range as I’ve got very dry skin and being in an air-conditioned room the whole day doesn’t help. Moreover, I’m thinking of switching my skin care products so it would be lovely if I can try out the Kose Junkisei Prime Range!

  18. Thanks Peggy for this wonderful post.
Your skin looks so fresh and radiant :)

I have been trying alot of products ranging from drugstores to counter brands and til now, I could not find the products that worked for me. They are either too drying or too rich or too strong etc. To be honest, I have also tried some products from KOSE counter and they did not suit me as well.

I have dehydrated, sensitive and acne prone skin – one of the worst combinations I guess? But I still have hopes on getting good skin, therefore, I’m constantly searching for suitable products.

I would very much like to try the KOSE Junkisei Prime series very much and hopefully, this time I can find my holy grail :)

  19. Wow! Sounds really good! At some pt of time, I was so into whitening but later on, switched to hydrating products because I realise having a soft, hydrated supple skin is the key to best makeup!

I’ve recently taken plane to and fro Taiwan and seriously, the air in the plane makes my skin really really dry!! I have pimples popping out and my pores are larger than before because my skin is dehydrated!!

I would want to try out these products to gain back my supple hydrated skin! Thank you!

  32. Hi Peggy!
Wow I’d be ecstatic if I won the full range of Kose Junkisei! :) Cos I’m gonna be starting on my first real job soon, and that means applying makeup regularly which I don’t often do, and many hours in air conditioned places which I’m worried will dry out my skin. I want to start out my make up regime right by having a good set of cleansing and moisturizing products, and Kose seems to fit the bill! Would love to have good and radiant skin to complement my first few months at work :) thanks for the opportunity!

  33. Hello! I NEED the new Kose Junkisei Prime Range because I’m 18 and I still do not have any idea on how to take care of my skin! And I will be heading over to Switzerland soon and heard from my parents its gonna be very dry weather condition there which makes my dry skin condition even worse :(

Hopefully, with Kose Junkisei Prime Range, I’d be able to keep my skin hydrated all day long and not worry about dry skin over at Switzerland!

Bring the love over to Switzerland! :D xx

  34. Hi Peggy,

I would like to win this for my girlfriend. She is terribly conscious of her skin condition and hopes for flawless skin like yours. I always tell her I don’t mind it but she still fusses over it.

She hasn’t tried this product before and if it’s really good, I’ll like to help by giving her the Junkisei range to ease all her insecurity away. :)

Hope I qualify for this even though I’m a guy.

  35. I love the sun too much so my skin has always been very dry. Staying in air-conditioned rooms everyday makes it worse. Furthermore, I’ve tried countless products and they have only managed to give me temporary hydrating relief and my skin looks dull and pimples start popping out after a couple of days. I’m already losing faith in expensive but ineffective brands.

After reading your review, I believe the new Kose Junkisei Prime Range would be able to make my skin supple and smooth again. Hydrating and preventing any further problems is better than curing blemishes and covering up with makeup. And its so friendly on the wallet for a reputable Japanese brand! What more could I ask for? :)

  36. I would love to get this range of products especially the lotion!

  37. Hi Peggy!

I grew up being self conscious about my skin and looks. As I grow older, the need to maintain my skin is important because of pollution, late nights and unhealthy diet!

I do events and the nature of my job requires me to work late and the irregular hours caused my skin to be dull and I always look tired and lifeless which is bad because when I meet clients, I need to look fresh at all times and feel confident.

I believe the key to good skin is not to use expensive products but to use the right one and maintain it for the many years to come.

It’s not a crime to want to look good and I hope that I’ll stand a chance to be one of the top 3 lucky winners.

Thank you for spreading the love! <3

  44. Hello Peggy :D

It seems alittle weird sharing this because I guess, every girl loves to try new products!

Here is a list of reasons as to why I want to win the full range of Kose Junkisei:

    1) I want to try something abit different from my daily skincare routine of products that are ‘ja-pa-lan’, all mixed, from different brands :/ So, I want to try products from the same brand to see if the effects are better! (abit kiasu huh? hahaha)

    2) We all live in the age where less is more, so I want to get a skincare range that is mild yet provides hydration for daily use. I read that the Kose Junkisei range has Chinese herbal ingredients in them! Thats double the benefits – hydrating and nutritious!

    3) Lastly, I want to have better skin that I have now (dry-sensitive) and I am fully aware that I cannot use harsh products! The Kose Junkisei Range is superb for me!

    Thank you!! :D

I first put on make up during PROM NIGHT, and it was a DISASTER ): After that, I had bad breakouts and never dared to put on make up. I went around finding products to suit my skin type and after reading your blog post, I trust sixpegs to know that this product will benefit me. Some may comment for the catch of free items, but I comment because I truly want to have fresh supple skin as shown in this blog post.

Nevertheless, thank you for the easily attainable voucher. I look forward to seeing good news & will be checking my inbox daily.

  56. The only kose product that I have tried is their black peel off mask. Hence, I am really surprised to know through your review that it actually carries a whole range of really affordable skincare products!

I have oily but dehydrated skin and have been searching for the right skincare products for my skin. But, despite trying out various drugstore hydrating products, my skin has not improved. On the contrary, some products even clogged up my pores and caused me to breakout even more!

Thus, I am really keen to try out the full range of kose junkisei products and hopefully find the elusive set of skincare products that is ideal for my skin! I would so love to have flawless and zit-free skin for a change! (:

  58. I’m having an outbreak of acne that doesn’t get well until mths later and i suspect that it has something to do with my current skincare regime! I’m currently using SKII and whilst it’s good at making your skin look translucent, its facial clear solution which is a moisturizer for oily skin, is just not hydrating enough for my acne prone skin~!

Plus, SKII is really expensive so I’m really looking for something affordable (plus i don’t believe in expensive = good theory) and is suitable for my skin, and Junkisei looks like something that might work for me. Kose has been highly recommended by my friends too so I’m really looking forward to trying this series so hopefully… =P

  59. I’d LOVE LOVE to try this range peggy! I have never had good skin since i started swimming at age 9. Our lovely sun has pretty much damage my once beautiful skin. haa! My skin is dry at times and oily at time, constanly having pimples & blackheads. Never once got a clear radient look. I have never tried any other skincare except olay and simple(partly bcos i couldn’t afford other skincare boohoo), its definitely not working for me because my face is still oily due to the lack of hydration. So PLEASE let me have the honor to try this range out because i’m dying to have a complexion like yours! :D *kowtow* THANKS in advance! haha.

  62. I am a person who is super lazy when it comes to the ridiculous procedures in removing makeup, cleansing and hydrating. I always tend to either not remove any makeup until im awakes in the morning or half-hearted in removing them. Which means that the face of mine has not been totally cleansed and that is why frequent pimples outbreak always occur. With
Junkisei Oil Cleansing, I can cleanse and remove my makeup at 1 go and save the hassel and money on cotton pads! It seem easy and breezy! With the lotion and cream I can hydrate my face and say bye bye to wrinkle and aged skin! All it takes is a little effort and viola, i will be ready for work, play or sleep! Of course for the resonable and affortable price, I can kiss goodbye to dull and pimpleless day!!

  65. I would love love LOVE to try out this full range of KOSE products ‘cos ever since i started to work (1 year now), my skin condition has been going from bad to worse. No matter how much moisturiser i slap on, my skin feels so dry and dehydrated (probably due to the air-conditioner at my work place). I experience disgusting oily face at work )): and i have no choice but to blot my face regularly (though i know it only encourages MORE sebum to be excreted). By the end of the work day, my makeup seems to have “melted off” and i totally have no more mood to go out after work.

Puhleaseeee gimme a chance to save my skin and my (non-existence) dating life!!!

I’d LOVE to try out this new range by Kose because I need a proper facial range! I tend to alternate alot between my facial products, primarily because I haven’t found any product that has impressed me nor created much change for my dull skin.
I’ve heard so much about Kose and I feel that this would be a great opprtunity for me to see if Kose is the one for me.
I too want beautiful, radiant skin like yours! ):

  82. Hey Peggy!

I went to Guardian and get the products ytd! Thanks for the vouchers!

However, experienced a little unpleasant experience there. The staff said tat printed vouchers are not allowed for the products and argued with us!

In the end, she called her boss and her boss said that actually they dun allow printed vouchers but an exception for us while they clarify with the team.

I tink it’s the confusion between the guardian team itself. My sis told them to look at the standee at the products rack, which says: “print vouchers from http://www.sixpegs.com..”

Hope the rest of the readers dun encounter such things as well!

Anyway, the product is awesome! Especially the cleansing oil! =)

I would love to try because I’m still finding the right skincare products for my face (those I used previously left my skin dry after using or turn back oily after awhile) and also a good skincare range which can accompany through my growing stage. ( I don’t wanna look like anything more than my age just because of skin problems I have yet to find a solution to cure ) . To add on , currently working under air conditional environment for 10hours 6day a week, notice the dull-ness on my face which makes me look like a walking zompie . Hope I can be one of the 3lucky ones and be one step closer to happier and healthy skin! thankyou! =)

  88. I am 22 and have always been a lazy girl – not washing my face with cleanser or any skincare products, not using masks, moisturers etc etc. Fortunately for the past 20 odd years, I’ve not had any problems with my skin, no acne problems or dry skin at all. In fact my friends were all often envious of my good skin and asked me how I kept it that way. Little did they know that I did not use any products. Some of my girlfriends had been disapproving of my bad habit and advised me to start skin care early, not wait till something happen and then to regret. Unwilling to entertain that possibility, I did not take their advice to heart at all. However, recently, I kinda suffered the consequences of my laziness!! :(

For the past half a year, little bumps started appearing on my face. My skin would get so dry that it flakes and itches..I sometimes would scratch these spots and cause bleeding and scars. To make things worse, the scars take very long to heal and often leave the areas pigmented!! :((

My girlfriends had started asking me what happened to my skin and even recommended me their products to try in hope of some remedy. For the past few months, I’ve been trying products from them and almost all off-the-shelf watson / guardian products. My condition is slowly improving but is still not yet ideal hence I’d really like to try the new Kose Junkisei Range. Thank you!

I want the new Kose Junkisei Prime Range for birthday pretty please~~

I have never paid much attention on hydrating my skin because I have the thinking that hydrating is only for dry skin and my oily skin can just skip that step. I am also worried that hydrating will make my skin more oily.

However, reading Peggy’s posts on achieving fresh-looking supple skin have convinced me otherwise. I am now aware of the benefits that hydrating can do to my skin. Quotes “keep premature aging and dullness at bay, better regulate the production of sebum in our skin, prevent unwanted pimples and blemishes” O.o

I was so wrong previously! I want hydrated skin now! Choose me choose me!

  102. Hello Peggy ^_^

I always had pretty bad skin with acnes popping out every now and then. Though my acne problem has been less severe these years, my complexion is dull and still not in its best condition, which makes putting on make up a tedious job.

Therefore, I feel that there is a need to start a proper skin care routine. I definitely feel that the new Kose Junkisei range is worth a try since the facial cleanser can also double-up as a make-up remover which makes it more convenient. It is also great that the lotion is low in alcohol content because I have fairly sensitive skin.

I would definitely love to try the new range and start looking forward to clear and good skin. :)

With all the horror stories from my girlfriends, I think it’s high time I proactively do something to maintain my skin. 120. Hullo Peggy,

I am a spore lady working in the Middle East where temperature runs over 45 degrees with less than 20% humidity in summer. The tap water here is also highly chlorinated which dries up skin even faster.

Good hydration for my skin is not a good-to-have but a must-have everday in such a desert climate to prevent the yucky tight sensation on the face, peeling and premature aging (horrors!!!).

There’s no better way to boost moisture level in the skin than to rely on good quality skincare products like KOSE.

Would you be my shining camel in the desert and grant me a full set of KOSE Junkisei Prime Range so that I can always look fresh & radiant instead of like a dried prune?

  121. Dear Peggy and/or Yvonne,

I went to Guardian at Jurong Point at about 8+pm today with 2 coupons to purchase 2 items from the Junkisei range. However, the shift manager was clueless about the promotion and I ended up being embarrassed in front of the other customers in the queue. He claimed that they only accept “AUTHORIZED” cut-outs from magazines “WITH SERIAL NO.” They eventually gave me the discount – but only after asserting that they will need me to top up the $12 (they took down my particulars) if they find out that the coupons are nothing but forgery. :(

  122. I went to Takashimaya’s Guardian yesterday and after walking around the WHOLE store for 3times I finally saw the KOSE range tucked away in a tiny corner right at the last row.

nontheless, I bought 3 bottles! the staff there were quite unfriendly, same treatment (as Mas’s.. the staff look at the voucher like it was some forgery)
So i fiercely asked them to go see their own poster.

the salesgirl face was almost as black as my mum’s cooking wok. Really bad attitude.
now i remember why i dislike shopping at guardian but prefer (ok love) watson instead~

but anyway, I LOVE THIS NEW RANGE OF KOSE!
my skin is feeling so smooth and pampered now. THANK YOU DEAR PEGGY AND THANK YOU KOSE!! I had one last voucher left (i printed 4) and I made my guy friend bought a facial wash too. ahaha

  123. Hi Mas

I am really sorry for the unpleasant experience :(
had highlighted to the team & immediate action will be taken.

once again, i really do apologise for all the inconvenience caused. :(

p.s. those who is staying in the west can consider going to the Guardian in IMM. The Junkisei range is available there & there is a Kose promoter as well. :)

  125. I would love the new Kose range as my skin is perpetually dull and it gets extremely oily throughout the day. And on top of that, my make up does not stay on! After a few hours, you could hardly tell I was wearing make up. I’ve tried many different brands of skincare and so far I have not been able to find anything that suits my skin. How I envy those with healthy, glowing skin!

  126. Dear Peggy,

I would like to try out KOSE Junkisei Prime Range because your review of the promising products bought me over. However, I hope that you would appease my other 50% doubt with regard to the long-term usefulness/quality of the products by allowing me to try out the range.

Besides your comments on the different products, what got me interested are the brand and the selling prices. Not only is the brand established, but the prices are reasonable as well. This means that I have a higher probability of sticking to the products if they turn out to be effective.

Equally as important, the products would help to improve the condition of my skin as I’ve been plagued by oily skin (but dry underneath) for many years. I believe hydration can serve to ammeliorate this problem.

Lastly, I can share the products with my mother too because she uses cosmetics and lotions (which in my opinion, doesn’t really work on her face).

I hope that I would be one of the 3 winners because it would really make both my mother and I happy!

    Thanks.

  127. i’ve been trying and looking for moisturisers since many years back – tried brand “B”, “H something O” and what have you. Splurged quite a bit on their full range thinking that’s MY brand, the brand that’s gonna work for me and contributing to their expanding counter once every few months.

Unfortunately other than the contributing-to-their-expanding-counters part, their products didn’t really work for me :(

Hoping for a win-win, it always turns out to be a win(for them)-lose(for me) situation.

I’m pretty much convinced that moisturising and hydrating doesn’t work – it’s an evil plot from beauty companies to siphon more money outta us people who aren’t blessed with good skin.

If what you say is true, then i suppose there is hope for us, or me at least.

What KOSE has to offer is simply irresistable. I hope you can hear my skin screaming for help all the way from your house.

I really do hope to be able to try out KOSE’s full range of hydration products, for that will bust my belief that moisturing and hydrating is but a hoax, and also that i can have a brand to trust and turn to.

Make moisturizing and hydration true for me.

and then I can proudly say I have MY brand :)

  131. I was looking at Kose Junkisei Prime Range at Gurdian and came to know of your discount offer of $6 on each item. As I am running out of make up remover, I went immediately back to office, check out your reviews and bought them immediately. (i mean products as I bought the cleanser and lotion as well). I tried and I love it….I have spread this offer to my buddies and collegues…will see more of these vouchers being used ..so now my next target is the moisturer and mask..want to try more of these product…
