The weekend is here and I love the weekends.
It’s a good time to just put everything down (including my hair) & just have fun!
The weekends have also become increasingly precious after Buttons moved in to the hostel.
And we finally get to meet up to enjoy our all-time favourite Balestier Boon Tong Kee.

That’s what we’ll usually order when we’re there.
And because we’re such regulars there, some of the waiters can even memorize our orders!
He loves breast (meat :p) & I hate it.
But we are all hopelessly in love with the Sambal Kang Kong there.
It’s totally, totally awesome stuff!!

We also took the chance to catch a concert at Esplanade.
It was a performance by Singapore Symphony Orchestra & The Tang Quartet.
Well, I’m not exactly a fan of such concerts, but it’s nice to be wherever Buttons is.
But fortunately, he rewarded me with a beer after the concert – so it’s all worth it. :p
Dinner was at another of our all time favourite Thai Express, and sweets were from Max Brenner.
Yummy yummy!

I am such a blur sotong!

Buttons and I were supposed to visit the Body Worlds exhibition just now.
I was REALLY excited because I have been looking forward to this exhibition for the longest time.
I was in charge of finding out where the exhibition was held, so right before I met up with Buttons,
I whipped out my iPhone and try to find the location of the exhibition.

I was very certain that the exhibition will be in Singapore until March,
so all I needed was the venue of the exhibition.
On the tiny screen of the iPhone, I saw –
(this picture was taken from my laptop, it really looks more clustered on my phone.)

OH YES. Expo Hall 1. That’s easy.
So we scrambled into his car and drove all the way to Expo.
When we got there, the only thing happening at Hall 1 was some church service.
We walked up and down trying to find the exhibition, and Buttons stared down at me with doubt,
and asked me whether I’m sure that the exhibition is happening at Expo.
I opened the page (which is still on the Safari page in my phone) and showed him.

DAMN IT!

FML.

We spent our day at Expo walking through the John Little Mega Sales & some Malay wedding fair.
ZZZ.
No one should ever give me important tasks to do.

As you can see from above, I also received my new camera few days ago.
My mommy kept asking me how come I need so many cameras. Haha!
I always wanted a Polaroid camera, and I was thrilled when I saw it online.
There are quite a few blogshops selling those lomo, BBF toy cameras,
but I haven’t really came across Polaroid cameras!
So if there are also people out there looking out for Polaroid cams,
you guys can try this website!
I got mine in blue & I’m sure I can make it look awesome with my obsession with stickers.
The Hello Kitty one is SUPER cute by the way.

My first picture was the one with Maliboo, and it was taken by Mom.
Can you imagine how BLACK she is?!
I was super over-exposed in the picture but she still looks fine! :p
I love my adorable decorative stickers too. Cute.

I totally heart the ones taken with Buttons too.
He is such a darling!

I also met up with Lianie & Sinsin for a cuppa @ Selegie Mr Bean earlier today.
It is always nice meeting up with my dear girls.
And other than heart-to-heart chats and catching up, our night was also liven up by the camwhoring.
I am quite a big kid in a way, because I bring my stickers almost everywhere I go.
And as we were decorating our Polaroids, I showed them these cute stickers –
the ones Buttons and I always use to “challenge” each other to imitate the sticker character’s expressions.

I THINK WE ALL DID AN AWESOME JOB!

I had such a wonderful night with my girlfriends.
We’re always laughing our heads off when we get together!

On a sad note, Buttons will be heading out to Malacca tomorrow morning.
He’s going on a school field trip & will need to chaperone the kids for the coming 6 days.
The kids can be quite a handful sometimes, I hope he can manage!
It will definitely be a great experience for him though, since it’s his first trip with the boys.
I’ll be missing him dearly and will be good until he comes back into my arms again!
Buttons, if you’re reading this from Malacca now, take good care of yourself (& the kids)!
Eat my share of the Durian Chendol and remember to miss me too. :p

Most importantly, have a safe trip.

What an awesome weekend!

  4. Vintage polaroid cameras = Polaroid brand – these use Polaroid 600 film (or 1200 film)
Fujifilm Instax Mini Camera = the one that Peggy bought – these use Fuji Instax Mini film

Just to clarify, the word polaroid has been used liberally to mean instant film. Polaroid has since stopped the production of film but you might still be able to find existing stock of polaroid film (expiry date Sep’ 09 or thereabout) at Peninsula Plaza or the digital camera shops at Funan (such as Alan Photo). That said, Polaroid is re-introducing its instant cameras and film some time this year – so look out for that!

Otherwise, if it’s the Fuji Instax camera you’ve got (just like Peggy), then finding the film will not be a problem.

      January 17, 2010 at 1:44 pm

    • Thanks Fifa! Ya I meant Polaroid brand 600 film. I knew they stopped the film production but I was waiting for Polaroid to re-introduce it this year. So the camera has just been kept in storage. In the meantime, I have been searching high and low for old stock that the shops might still have without much luck. Worst comes to worst, I’ll just wait til Polaroid releases the new film.

Thanks Peggy for suggestions of places too. I’ll go check out Peninsula Plaza when I next get back to Singapore (I’m actually more or less permanently based in Sydney for work currently).
